The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal incident involving two boats at Broadwater this evening, Queensland Police say.
Preliminary investigations indicate around 5.30pm a 7 metre vessel and 3.5 metre aluminium boat were travelling southbound near Couran Cove.
It is believed the tinny then turned into the path of the larger cruiser, causing the two boats to collide.
One of the occupants of the tinny, a 33-year-old woman from Brisbane, was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of her injuries.
The second occupant, a 41-year-old man, received a head injury and was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
No one on board the larger vessel was injured.
Investigations are continuing.
