Fatal motorcycle crash in Cooma

Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash at Cooma this morning. , NSW Police say

Shortly after 10.10am (Saturday 7 April 2018) emergency services were called to the Monaro Highway, about one kilometre south of Polo Flat Road, following reports of a crash.

Police from Monaro Police District have been told that 56-year-old man left an information bay on the side of the road.

The man reportedly rode his Suzuki motorcycle across the south bound lane and into the path of a northbound Mitsubishi Pajero, towing a caravan.

The Pajero driver managed initially to avoid the motorcycle, but the front drivers side of the caravan and the rider collided.

After he was thrown from his motorbike, several motorists stopped to render first aid.

He was treated at the scene by Ambulance paramedics who conveyed him to Cooma Hospital in a critical condition.

He passed away a short time later.

Officers from Monaro Police District continue to investigate the circumstances and will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
