Fatal pedestrian crash in West Ryde

A man has died after being struck by a car at West Ryde this morning, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Herbert Street, West Ryde, about 7.20am today following reports an 84-year-old man had been struck by a car while crossing the road.

The man was taken to Westmead Hospital where he later died.

The driver of the car, a 43-year-old woman, was taken to Ryde Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Forensic police examined the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
