Police are investigating after one child was killed and another was injured during a quad bike crash in the state’s north-west at the weekend, NSW Police say.
About 12.15pm today, five children aged between five and 13 were riding two quad bikes on a rural property near Pilliga, west of Narrabri.
One of the vehicles, carrying three children, left the private roadway and struck two trees.
A five-year-old girl died at the scene.
A 13-year-old girl suffered head injuries and was flown to Sydney Children’s Hospital, while a second 13-year-old girl was not injured.
None of the three girls resided at the property.
Officers from the Oxley Crash Investigation Unit are now investigating all circumstances surrounding the crash, including if any of the children were wearing helmets.
