Fatal single-vehicle crash near Tumut, NSW

Police are at the scene of a fatal single-vehicle crash near Tumut this morning, NSW Police say.

Just before 10.30am (Friday 19 January 2018), emergency services were called to Batlow Road at Batlow, about 30 kilometres south of Tumut, after a Ford F250 utility left the roadway and hit a tree.

A female passenger died at the scene.

The female driver was trapped. After being released, she was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and has been airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a serious condition.

Officers from Cootamundra Local Area Command are at the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

No other details are known at this stage.

The road remains blocked in both directions with local traffic diversions in place.
