One man has died, another is in a critical condition, and a man has been arrested, after a double stabbing in Merrylands overnight.
About 12.20am (Monday 24 August 2020), emergency services were called to Bertha Street after reports a man had been stabbed in the neck.
Shortly after, about 12.40am, emergency services received a report of another man stabbed in the neck at an address on Uren Place.
The 49-year-old man, found at the Bertha Street address, and the 40-year-old man, found at the Uren Place address, were both conveyed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
The younger man died a short time later.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command established two crime scenes at the Merrylands addresses, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.
A perimeter was established, and a search of the surrounding area commenced, with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit.
A short time later, a 26-year-old man was arrested nearby on Bird Avenue, Guildford, and taken to Granville Police Station.
It is believed the three men are known to each other.
Inquiries continue and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
