Fatal traffic crash at Coolum Beach, QLD

A 31-year-old man has died following a single vehicle crash at Coolum Beach overnight, Queensland Police say.

Preliminary investigations suggest that around 11.15pm, a vehicle travelling south along the Sunshine Motorway has lost control and crashed into trees, causing the vehicle to roll a number of times.

The 31-year-old man from Palmview was a passenger in the vehicle and died at the scene.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Kawana Hospital for treatment.

The Sunshine Motorway was closed between Coolum-Yandina Road and the Peregian Springs roundabout for two hours while the Forensic Crash Unit commenced investigations.

Investigations are continuing.
