A woman has died in a three vehicle traffic crash on the Kennedy Highway at Koah this morning, Queensland Police say.
Preliminary information suggests around 11.15am a Commodore sedan was stopped on the Kennedy Highway attempting to turn right into O’Neil Close when a Mitsubishi Lancer sedan collided with it.
The impact caused the Commodore to be pushed into the path of a Toyota Hilux travelling in the opposite direction.
As a result of the initial impact, a 101-year-old woman who was a passenger of the Mitsubishi sedan, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Occupants of the other vehicles were treated for serious injuries at the scene and transported to Cairns Base Hospital.
Traffic diversions are in place and motorists are being diverted around the crash scene via Palm Valley Road to the north and Koah Road to the south.
Motorists are urged to take extreme care on our roads, be patient and avoid travel if possible.
