Fatal traffic crash in Atherton, QLD

A 49-year-old man has died in hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a two vehicle traffic crash in Atherton on Friday, November 17, Queensland Police say.

Around 7pm a motorcyclist and utility collided on the Kennedy Highway.

The motorcyclist, from Ravenshoe, suffered severe injuries and was air-lifted to the Cairns Base Hospital where he was pronounced deceased on Sunday.

The driver of the utility, a 48-year-old man from Mareeba was not physically injured.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.

The Queensland road toll is currently 221, nine more than at the same time last year.
