A person has died as a result of a two vehicle crash on the Murchison Highway at Waratah shortly before 4pm this afternoon, Tasmania Police say.
The Murchison Highway is currently closed between the turnoff to Waratah at Guilford and Cradle Mountain Link Road.
The highway is expected to remain closed for several hours while a crash investigation is undertaken.
Anyone travelling via the Murchison Highway from the West and North-West coasts will be unable to do so and are advised to take an alternative route.
Police are on the scene and road blocks are currently in place.
