At about 8:57pm on Wednesday 1st November 2017 a black 2014 Yamaha MT09 motorcycle was travelling south on Hillside Crescent, near White Street. The rider was a 41 year old male from Summerhill, Tasmania Police say.
A silver 2005 Mercedes B200, was travelling north at the same location. The driver of the Mercedes was a 57 year old male from East Launceston and there was also a 53 year old female occupant in the vehicle also from East Launceston.
The rider has lost control of the motorcycle, crossing onto the incorrect side of the road and collided with the right front side of the oncoming vehicle.
Tasmania Police and Tasmania Ambulance Service attended the crash. The rider was transported to the Launceston General Hospital. The rider was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The occupants of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries.
Crash Investigation and Forensic Services attended the scene.
Police are investigating if excessive speed was a factor.
