Feature exhibit to showcase the past, present and future of NSW Primary Industries

25 Oct 2018

The NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) is inviting primary producers, their families and the community to come and visit their feature exhibit at the 2018 Australian National Field Days from Thursday, 25 to Saturday, 27 October.

DPI’s Director General, Scott Hansen said the three day event would be a fantastic opportunity to illustrate how DPI is working with farmers and communities to drive economic growth and productivity across NSW.

"DPI is proud to be the feature exhibitor at this year’s Australian National Field Days, as we will be able to demonstrate the programs and support services that we have available as well as connect with producers and communities in regional NSW," Mr Hansen said.

"Our exhibit will showcase our past, present and future contributions to primary industries. Farmers will have the chance to find out more on the available drought assistance, cutting edge research, as well as farm productivity advancements.

"Young farmers will be able to hear advice from the Young Farmer Business Program daily on how to be business ready on the stage and check out their new website.

"And the farmers of the future will be engaged with a Student Hub, Tocal Bookstore, and the DPI Biosecurity Warrior Passport display; an interactive learning journey."

Local Land Services will also be working alongside DPI staff.

Central Tablelands Local Land Services General Manager Chris Cumming said Local Land Services will also be working alongside DPI staff at the Australian National Field Days.

"This is a great opportunity for visitors to engage with staff face to face," Ms Cumming said.

"Visitors will learn more about the wide range of services Local Land Services and DPI offer in agriculture, biosecurity, natural resource management, fisheries and forestry.

"The Central Tablelands Local Land Services exhibit will be manned with staff who can talk about animal health, emergency management and sustainable agriculture."

Visitors can find the DPI feature exhibit at site C1-5 or Local Land Services at site C19-23.
