Government of Canada funding will support small and medium-sized businesses owned or operated by Francophones

Northern Ontario is home to vibrant and diverse communities that contribute to the economic, social, and cultural vitality of the region. Through regional development agencies such as FedNor, the Government of Canada is investing in those diverse communities with a focus on capacity building, new skills, and job creation.
Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor, announced a FedNor investment of $185,821 in the Centre d'éducation des adultes de New Liskeard to support the second phase of their Entrepreneurial Leadership for Francophones project.
The successful initiative launched in 2020 and saw more than thirty local businesses participate within the first year. Benefits realized by the Entrepreneurial Leadership for Francophones project so far include: the development of e-commerce systems with businesses offering sales online, increases in social media marketing, and a range of workshops and webinars aimed at developing new skills and expanding existing knowledge.
The second phase of the project will provide further training and services; it will support youth entrepreneurs to help develop current and future economic leaders; and it will help connect entrepreneurs to other community programs and services, agencies, organizations, and other training programs, as well as other mentoring services or programs.
Anticipated benefits of this investment include: 12 jobs created or maintained; two new businesses created; a minimum of 14 partnerships created and/or maintained; a minimum of 15 workshops, webinars, and information sessions for over 200 participants; and the adoption of new technologies and strategies, which will increase sales, productivity, and business capacity.
