Festival-goer charged over supply of MDMA - Wetherill Park RES

A man has been charged by Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad (RES) after allegedly smuggling MDMA into a Western Sydney dance party for on-supply earlier this month.

Officers from South West Metropolitan Region conducted a police operation in response to The Midnight Mafia Music Festival at Sydney Showground on Saturday 11 May 2019.

As part of the operation, police from Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad were investigating the supply of prohibited drugs, including 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), in and around festival areas.

Two men – both aged 21 – were previously arrested and charged. They remain before the courts.

Following extensive investigations, a 20-year-old man was arrested by Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad at a home at Kellyville Ridge just before 8am today (Thursday 23 May 2019).

He was taken to Riverstone Police Station and charged with supply indictable quantity of a prohibited drug and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

Police will allege in court that the man took more than 200 MDMA capsules into the event and on-supplied the drugs to the other two men, and other patrons.

The man has been granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Monday 17 June 2019.

Investigations are continuing, and similar operations will be conducted at future events.
