Fifth Person Charged After Man's Death At Bega

A fifth person has been charged following the death of a man on the South Coast last month.

Emergency services were called to East Street, Bega, about 2am on Monday 6 October 2025, following reports of a concern for welfare.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and found a man in a park suffering stab wounds. NSW Ambulance responded, however, the 43-year-old died at the scene.

A second man, aged 45, also suffered stab wounds and was taken to South East Regional Hospital in a stable condition. He has since been released from hospital.

Police established a crime scene and seized two vehicles for forensic examination.

Detectives commenced an investigation under Strike Force Nakstone, assisted by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.

Following extensive inquiries, three men, aged 32, 34 and 29, and a 19-year-old woman were arrested and charged last week. They remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, about 4.30pm yesterday (Sunday 23 November 2025), police arrested a 48-year-old man at a hospital in Bega.

He was taken to Bega Police Station where he was charged with murder, and cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.

About 9.35pm, detectives executed a search warrant at a house on Auckland Street, Bega, where several mobile phones and knives were located and seized.

The man has been refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 3 today (Monday 24 November 2025).
