Fighting for the Territory's Fair Share of GST

Today Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed the Commonwealth Government will adopt a new GST distribution scheme which will leave the Territory with long term uncertainty.

The Territory has already suffered devastating blows to our GST revenue, and this new scheme leaves us with even more questions on what the future holds.

The Commonwealth has indicated that it will maintain our relative GST share for the next 3 years but has provided no guarantees beyond this timeframe.

AS STATED BY TREASURER NICOLE MANISON

We will continue to fight for the Territorys fair share of GST we will accept nothing less.

Todays announcement does not give us certainty that in the long run Territorians will be better off.

Less GST means less investment in Territory jobs, police, teachers, hospitals and goes against the Federal Government promises to close the gap on Aboriginal disadvantage.

The CLP also needs to stand up for Territorians and come clean on whether or not they support Scott Morrisons new GST formula.
