Finnish President Visits International Criminal Court

On 12 December 2025, H.E. Mr Cai-Göran Alexander Stubb, President of Finland, visited the International Criminal Court (ICC), accompanied by his spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb, where they were received by ICC President Judge Tomoko Akane and ICC Registrar Mr Osvaldo Zavala Giler.

President Akane thanked President Stubb for his visit and for Finland's unwavering support of the ICC, including the generous contributions made towards the Trust Fund for Victims. President Akane noted the importance of the ICC in the context of the current international order and how States' support is essential for the ICC to continue carrying out its judicial mandate.

The visit of President Stubb to the ICC highlights Finland's commitment to the Court and the joint efforts deployed in the fight against the impunity of the perpetrators of the most serious crimes that affect the international community as a whole. Finland signed the Rome Statute on 7 October 1998 and deposited its instrument of ratification on 12 May 2003.
