Fire permits cancelled for parts of Far North Queensland

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) has cancelled fire permits in parts of Far North Queensland.

As of 2359hrs 20 September 2019, fire permits have been cancelled in the Cook Shire, Mareeba Shire, Tablelands Regional, Cairns Regional Council, Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire, and Cassowary Coast Regional Local Government Areas.

This is due to continuing dry conditions in the region.

Any permits currently written, and in force, will be cancelled. Permit restrictions in these areas will remain in place until further notice.
