Firearm, ammunition, stolen property seized during FPO search, NSW

Police have seized a firearm, ammunition and a large amount of stolen property during the search of a home in south-west Sydney overnight, NSW Police say.

About 6pm yesterday, officers from the State Crime Command’s Firearms Squad searched a home on Coolobah Place at Macquarie Fields, in accordance with a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO).

During the search, police located and seized a rifle, ammunition, and property believed to have been stolen.

Firearms Squad detectives, in conjunction with Macquarie Fields Local Area Command and Bass Hill Region Enforcement Squad (RES), subsequently executed a search warrant at the property.

They later uncovered a large amount of additional property also believed to have been stolen.

In addition, they seized methamphetamine, cash, more than 40 mobile phones, and other electronic devices.

All of the items were seized and will undergo further forensic examination.

A 31-year-old man, the subject of the FPO, was spoken to by police and released pending further investigations.

A second male resident, aged 29, was arrested by Macquarie Fields detectives and charged in relation to three break and enters incidents.

He was refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court today.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
