Firearm charges in South Grafton

A man will appear in court tomorrow charged with firearm offences after a shot was allegedly fired into a unit at South Grafton this morning, NSW Police say.

About 7am, today, police attended a unit block in Through Street, following reports a man had been sighted with a firearm.

Police attended and searched the area; however, the man had left the area. Police inspected the unit block and discovered a projectile had been fired into a wall.

No one was injured.

An investigation commenced and a man and woman were arrested a short time later leaving a nearby residence.

The 23-year-old man was charged with fire firearm at dwelling house with disregard for safety and possess loaded firearm in a public place. He was refused bail to appear in Grafton Local Court tomorrow.

The 42-year-old woman was released pending further inquiries.
