Firearms and 4WD stolen, vehicles damaged near Collarenebri, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance to find a 4WD agricultural vehicle and guns stolen during break and enters in the Castlereagh area yesterday, NSW Police say.

Between midnight and 6am yesterday, five separate rural locations were targeted along the Merrywinebone Road at Rowena, and the Baroona Road and Gwydir Highway, Collarenebri.

In Merrywinebone Road, the windows of a green Toyota Avalon and silver Land Rover Discovery were smashed, while a rifle and a white Mazda utility were stolen from a business in the same road.

The ute was found bogged and burnt-out on Baroona Road about 7.30am.

Police believe the occupant or occupants have then walked to a neighbouring property and stolen a 2011-model John Deere Gator, as well as another rifle. The vehicle was last seen in the vicinity of Colly Gin off the Gwydir Highway at Collarenebri about 8am.

Police are appealing for assistance from the public to locate the Gator 4WD vehicle, and are seeking information to identify those responsible for the damage and the thefts.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
