Firearms Recovered – Claremont and North Hobart, TAS

On Thursday, 5 January 2017, members of Glenorchy CIB executed two search warrants at an address in Box Hill Road, Claremont, and in Burnett Street, North Hobart, following information received, Tasmania Police say.

As a result of these searches police recovered 4 Firearms, one of which was stolen and the other three of which were prohibited.

Police have subsequently charged a 27 year old man from Goodwood and a 20 year old woman from North Hobart with Possessing a Prohibited Firearm x 3, Possessing a Silencer, Possessing Ammunition when not the Holder of a Firearm Licence and both were also charged with some separate associated offences.

Both have been detained to appear in court on Friday, 6 January 2017, and police are conducting further inquiries relating to the firearms with the expectation of further charges being laid at a later date.
