Firearms seized following domestic violence incident in Lake Illawarra

A man will appear in court today after several firearms and ammunition were seized following an alleged domestic violence incident in Warilla yesterday.

Shortly after 6pm today, emergency services attended a home on Fleetwood Crescent, after receiving several triple zero calls, NSW Police say.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended and forced entry into the house. Upon entry, a physical altercation took place between a 40-year-old man and a male police officer.

Following a search of the home police allegedly located three unregistered firearms and an amount of ammunition.


A 34-year old woman and two children were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to Shellharbour Hospital.

The 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Oak Flats Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised firearm ( x 3), not keep firearm safely ( x 3), possess unregistered firearm (x 3), possess ammunition, common assault ( x 2), resist arrest (x 2), intimidation and intentionally choke person.

He was refused bail and will appear at Wollongong Local Court today tomorrow.
