First Vaccines Administered - Lithgow Vaccination Hub

Lithgow Council

For the period of 12, 13 and 14th September 2021, Lithgow hosted its own pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic, operated by NSW Health.

For the period of the 12th, 13th and 14th September 2021, Lithgow was host to a Vaccination Clinic, coordinated by NSW Health in collaboration with Lithgow City Council. While NSW Health was responsible for the logistics of vaccine delivery, Council provided all resources to ensure easy access to and from the site.

"Over the three days that the site was operating, 1,631 first vaccinations were administered", said Lithgow City Council's Mayor, Councillor Ray Thompson. "This is an outstanding result and demonstrates significant demand for vaccination. This gives me hope that we will quickly reach the State Government's target of 70% vaccination, so long as this demand can be met with adequate resources."

"I sincerely thank NSW Health, the Australian Defence Force, NSW Police, Council staff and our local SES branch for their efforts in making this service a reality. I also appreciate the efforts of every resident that has received their vaccination to date", said Mayor Thompson.

"I would also like to advise the community that for the 16 days it was open, Douglass Hanly Moir provided 1,349 tests at the Tony Luchetti Showground," added Mayor Thompson. "This provided great relief for the Lithgow Hospital, and I hope for their prompt return should demand spike once more. Thank you to all those who supported this service."

Lithgow City Council continues to make every effort to work with all agencies to best assist in keeping our community safe and informed. It is most important that all residents continue to comply with health orders, maintain all health safeguards and get vaccinated as soon as practicable.
