Fisherman rescued after boat capsizes in South Coast

A man has been rescued after his boat capsized off the state’s South Coast last night, NSW Police say.

About 8.30pm (2 November 2016), emergency services were called to Kiola boat ramp, after a family member reported a missing fisherman.

Police have been told the man went fishing in his boat alone, about 3pm and had failed to return to his vehicle.

Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended and with the assistance of Marine Rescue vessels and Ambulance helicopter, commenced a search for the man.

About 10pm, the man’s 4.5 aluminium boat was located capsized near Brush Island before the 63-year-old man was located standing upon rocks on the island.

The man was rescued and returned to shore where he was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics.
