Five arrested following Werribee intercept

Police have arrested five people following an intercept in Werribee this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

Police spotted an allegedly stolen Holden sedan on Heaths Road in Hoppers Crossing just after 3pm and attempted to intercept.

The car was stopped in Snipe Court in Werribee before it reversed at police members, hitting a police vehicle, and speeding off.

During the incident a single shot was fired by police.

The vehicle involved was located dumped on Rob Close a short time later and all five occupants were arrested.

No one was injured during the incident and as with all incidents when shots are fired by police, the investigation will be overseen by Professional Standards Command.

Two 17-year-old males from Wyndham Vale, a 19-year-old Maryborough man, an 18-year-old Geelong woman, a 16-year-old girl from Wyndham Vale and a 17-year-old girl from Hoppers Crossing are currently being interviewed.

No charges have been laid at this stage.
