Five Hurt in M1 Southbound Crash Near Mooney Mooney

Five people have been injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the M1 at Mooney Mooney this morning.

Police have been told three cars were involved in a crash in the southbound lanes about 4am (Saturday 12 July 2025), 2km north of the Berowra turnoff, when the driver of a fourth car stopped to assist.

One of the involved drivers got into the fourth vehicle, and two other drivers were standing on the roadside, when they were struck by prime mover.

Four men were injured: two inside the car suffered relatively minor injuries, while a man outside was knocked down, and the fourth was pinned by his legs against a rock wall.

Officers attached to Kuring-Gai Police Area Command and Brisbane Water Police District, NSW Ambulance paramedics, Fire and Rescue NSW, and a rescue helicopter were called to the scene.

Two men have now been transported to hospital – one with leg injuries – while the remaining two car drivers are being assessed on-site. The male driver of the truck is being treated for a hand injury.

All southbound lanes are closed with traffic being diverted via the Old Pacific Highway.
