Five people are in custody following an incident in Ritchie Avenue, Burnie, today.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene about 3am after a man was critically injured following an alleged altercation.
Sadly, police can confirm that the man died in the North West Regional Hospital a short time ago.
Our thoughts are with the man's family and loved ones at this difficult time.
Initial investigations indicate the parties were known to each other.
Police, including forensics, remain at the scene conducting investigations.
