Five people arrested at music festival in Homebush

Police remain disappointed that some people continue to risk their lives taking illicit drugs, with numerous drug detections at a music festival at Homebush yesterday, NSW Police say.

On Saturday 16 December 2017, officers from South West Metropolitan Region were part of Operation Clinker at the festival in Homebush.

Approximately 16, 899 people attended the event.

During the operation, police searched 298 people, resulting in 69 legal actions. Among them were 55 charges for possess prohibited drug, six supply cannabis cautions, two trespass and one fail to quit license premises.

Of those arrested, five people have been charged with possessing MDMA.

A 17-year-old female teenager was arrested and charged after police located 379 MDMA capsules.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Wednesday 24 January 2018.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged after police located 188 MDMA capsules.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at a Burwood Local Court on Thursday 25 January 2018.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested and charged after police located 90 MDMA capsules.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at a Burwood Local Court on Friday 19 January 2018.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested and charged after police located 40 MDMA capsules.

She was granted conditional bail to appear in Court next month.

A 17-year-old female teenager was arrested and charged after police located 41 MDMA capsules.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Wednesday 24 January 2018.

Police say the majority of those in attendance at the events were well behaved but are disappointed people are still bringing in illicit drugs.

It is alarming to see two 17-year-old girls with large quantities of MDMA.

Police operations to target illicit drugs and other criminal offences at these types of events will continue.
