Two dogs have been captured after three adults and two children were attacked in the Central Hunter yesterday, NSW Police say.
About 7pm yesterday, a 40-year-old woman was walking her dog along Chelmsford Drive Park, Metford, when she was attacked by two dogs.
The woman received a significant injury to her nose.
A 38-year-old man and two girls, aged nine and 16, came to the aid of the woman, however, they were also attacked by the dogs.
The man received a laceration to his hand and the children suffered minor abrasions.
A 24-year-old man, who lives nearby, then came to assist. He was also bitten by the dogs and received lacerations to his arm and leg.
Officers from Central Hunter Local Area Command, with assistance of a ranger attended the scene.
A short time later, the dogs were captured in a local park.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated multiple patients at the scene. The 40-year-old woman was conveyed to John Hunter Hospital for surgery.
The dogs are currently being held by Maitland City Council.
Police and council ranger continue their inquiries into the incident.
