Five Teens Charged After Break-Ins, Pursuits

Five teenage boys have been charged after multiple alleged break ins and stolen vehicle pursuits across the states west.

Police were told that sometime between late Sunday night (21 September 2025) and early Monday morning (22 September 2025), a sedan was allegedly stolen from a home in Orange.

About 1.35am today (Tuesday 23 September 2025), a group of young people allegedly broke into a home on Stewart Street, Bathurst.

Shortly after, the same group allegedly entered a home on Green Street, West Bathurst, and stole two vehicles, a silver station wagon and a white ute, before the group drove to a service station on Sydney Road, Kelso, where they failed to pay for fuel.

Around 4.20am (Tuesday 23 September 2025), officers attached to Central West Police District were patrolling the Glenroi area, in Orange, when they observed the two vehicles allegedly travelling at excessive speed along Kurim avenue towards Lone Pine Avenue, Orange.

Police attempted to stop the station wagon, when it failed to do so, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit was terminated on Adina Avenue where police lost sight of the vehicle.

A short time later, police located and attempted to stop the ute travelling on Lone Pine Avenue, where a second pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

Following the pursuits, officers attached to Chifley and Central West Police Districts commenced investigations into the incidents.

About 4.45am, patrolling police located the station wagon abandoned on Leura Road, Orange. The vehicle was seized.

Shortly after, police were notified of the utility abandoned on Maxwell Avenue. Police attended the location and seized the vehicle.

A short time later, police located and arrested five teenage boys, aged 14, 17, 19 and two 16-year-olds, in the roof of a nearby house.

During a search of the 17-year-old boy, police allegedly located and seized a pair of house keys.

All five boys taken to Orange Police Station, where the two 16-year-old boys and the 17-year-old boy were each charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal less than equal to $60000, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and dishonestly obtain property by deception.

The 19-year-old man was charged with,

- aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than equal to $60000 (two counts),

- take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and

- dishonestly obtain property by deception.

- police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, and

- never licensed person drive vehicle on road.

They were all refused bail to appear before a children's court tomorrow (Wednesday 24 September 2025).

The 14-year-old boy was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent -in company- not steal.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before a childrens court on Monday 13 October 2025

Following inquiries, police located and seized the allegedly stolen sedan in Kelso. All three vehicles seized will undergo forensic examination.
