CEO of Global Leisure at Flight Centre Travel Group, Melanie Waters-Ryan, will deliver a keynote address at the launch of Collective in Brisbane on 11th May. Ms Waters-Ryan will speak about a topic that is close to her heart and is likely to resonate with other women in the room — "It is both fortunate and wise to be a woman...lessons I have learnt in life and work on embracing your gender."
Ms Waters-Ryan is passionate about seeing more women in leadership roles and has actively participated in advancing women in the travel industry through forums, career development and promoting gender equity.
She has also walked the talk, starting out in travel 33 years ago as a consultant and working her way into the top job. In 2018 Melanie was recognised for her achievements, topping the Women in Travel Power List.
The event is being hosted by Collective, an organisation that supports women in business through events, networking opportunities and mentoring. Collective is supported by Mas, a not-for-profit employment and development organisation. This is the first face-to-face Collective event in Brisbane after its original launch in 2020 was postponed due to COVID-19.
"We're very excited to be holding a live event in Brisbane. Collective has always been about providing an inclusive environment for business women from all backgrounds to come together to share stories, ideas and inspire each other," said Emma, Program Facilitator at the Collective.
Collective supports a number of women's charities. A percentage of ticket sales from every event support not-for-profit organisations who work directly with women and children in need. To date, Collective has raised over $25,000 for its charity partners.
Collective has chosen A Brave Life as its charity partner for this event. A Brave Life works with young women to encourage them to finish their education, pursue their dreams and to "live life brave". The charity also provides essential baby items to young women through their baby bundle program.
The Collective event will be held on 11th May at The Tote Room, Eagle Farm Racecourse. Tickets are limited so book here to avoid disappointment (our last three launch events sold out).
