Floodwater Rescue - Marrakai Heights

Northern Territory Police attended to a report of a boat and vehicle being swept off the road near Marrakai Heights around 6:00am this morning.

All persons were safely recovered by emergency services. The boat and vehicle have not been recovered at this stage, Northern Territory Police say.

In addition to the flooding on Arnhem Highway, Batchelor Police now advise that the Coomalie Creek is 400mm over the road on Batchelor Road.

With continued rain across the Top End, many roads into remote and regional areas are affected by floodwater. Northern Territory Police remind people not to drive on roads which have been closed and to make informed decisions when driving off main arterial roads or undertaking non-essential travel.

Northern Territory Police said four vehicles were stranded in the past 24 hours after attempting to cross flooded causeways.

Northern Territory Police remind people to monitor the Bureau of Meteorology website and Road Report NT which will assist people in understanding the impact of wet weather on their travel plans.
