Tasmania Police will roll-out new look police vehicles to spearhead this year's Easter Road Safety Campaign.
The new police vehicles will include new high visibility livery on city patrol cars in addition to low profile highway patrol vehicles and unmarked vehicles and motorcycles for targeted areas.
Police will also target high risk driving behaviours like speeding, mobile phone usage and drink and drug driving throughout the State to keep families safe this holiday period.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is fulfilling its commitment to boost police numbers who will be out in force this Easter in major cities and highways and also smaller towns and country roads.
We know from the statistics that speeding and alcohol are responsible for about 42 per cent of fatal and serious crashes and inattention, like using a mobile phone, accounts for about 10 per cent of crashes.
So Tasmania Police has a simple message this Easter – slow down, put your mobile phone away, wear your seatbelt and don't drive if you are tired or have consumed alcohol or drugs.
This year's Easter Road Safety Campaign will run from Thursday, April 18, to Tuesday, April 23.
