Detectives investigating the suspicious disappearance of Roxlyn Bowie have concluded a forensic excavation at her former home in the state's north west today.
Roxlyn Bowie, aged 31 at the time, was last seen at her Walgett home on Saturday 5 June 1982.
Local police commenced an investigation into her disappearance before the case was assigned to the Homicide Squad.
A Coronial Inquest in 2014 found Mrs Bowie had died but that her cause of death was undetermined. Her body has not been located.
The Robbery and Serious Crime Squad commenced a renewed investigation into her suspicious disappearance under Strike Force Maluka.
Strike force investigators, with the assistance of specialist forensic experts, forensically examined a property in Walgett on Tuesday (19 March 2019).
Following further inquiries, a forensic excavation commenced on a parcel of land at the side of the property yesterday (Thursday 21 March 2019) and concluded today (Friday 22 March 2019).
A number of items were located and seized and will now undergo further forensic testing to determine relevance to the ongoing investigation.
The excavation comes after investigators appealed for anyone with information regarding a diamond ring bought from a Bankstown pawn shop on Wednesday 6 June 1984 to come forward.
Robbery and Serious Crime Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty, continued to urge those who may have information to come forward.
"We have had great community support in this investigation so far and are grateful for their assistance," Det Supt Doherty said.
"Our investigators are following up on a number of inquiries and will not stop until we piece together Roxlyn Bowie's last movements.
"We all want the same outcome – to be able to locate Roxlyn and provide some answers for her loved ones."
A $1 million NSW Government reward remains on offer for information leading to the location of the body of Roxlyn Bowie or for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her murder.
Investigations under Strike Force Maluka are continuing.
