Foreshore stabilisation works get underway at Toronto

Lake Macquarie City Council

Council will be installing 60 meters of rock revetment along the northern end of Toronto foreshore, near Bath Street. Rock revetment prevents erosion by reinforcing the shoreline and reducing the impact from tidal changes and storms.

Works will be starting this week and will take up to 3 weeks.

The project will involve:

  • cordoning off the existing carpark at 4 Bath Street, Toronto as a stockpile site
  • excavating and removing the existing retaining wall
  • battering the remaining foreshore to a suitable profile
  • installation of the rock revetment, with geofabric and rock installed up to ground level

These works are unrelated to the Toronto foreshore revitalisation, with further stages to be completed over the next three years. Works on the Toronto baths are expected to commence in 2024.
