Former Officer Charged - Southern Region 27 January

A former police officer has been charged with stealing and prohibited weapons offences in the state's south.

In December 2025, police commenced an investigation into a former officer who had allegedly committed offences while he was still a serving police officer.

Following inquiries, about 6.20pm yesterday (Monday 26 January 2026), police arrested the 52-year-old former officer before he was taken to Gundagai Police Station and charged with stealing, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and receive/dispose stolen property minor indictable offence less than $5,000.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Gundagai Local Court on Friday 17 April 2026.
