Four arrested after drone search, SA

Aerial drones have helped catch four people wanted for a serious criminal trespass and theft at Kimba, according to SA Police.

About 10am on Friday 21 October a shed on Aerodrome Road was broken into and items including a generator were stolen. Offenders then broke into a second shed nearby and stole a white utility.

The victim located his ute and other stolen items about 10 kilometres east of Kimba, hidden under trees along a dirt driveway. While inspecting his ute the four alleged offenders arrived in a red Holden sedan, but sped away when confronted by the victim.

Cowell police and local farmers searched the area but could not locate the car and offenders at this time.

Just after 10am the next day, Saturday 22 October, a group of people flagged down a local farmer for assistance as their vehicle had become bogged in remote scrubland in the Kimba area.

With the assistance of CFS members, and local farmers Cowell police member set up cordons around the area and arrested one man when he approached CFS. The other three offenders allegedly ran from police into scrubland.

Farmers using aerial drones were able to locate the three other offenders hiding in scrub and all were arrested without incident. Cowell police would like to thank locals for their assistance in locating the offenders.
