Four arrested following Lalor aggravated burglary

Police have arrested four people following a number of incidents in Melbourne’s north this morning, Victoria Police say.

The series of offences commenced in Wingrove Street, Fairfield, about 8am this morning.

A woman was walking along the street when a black Mercedes approached. A man armed with a knife exited the vehicle and demanded the woman hand over cash.

After taking a small quantity of cash, the offender fled.

Then, about 8.45am, the same black car attended an address in Gillwell Crescent, Lalor.

An offender approached a resident with a knife and demanded he hand over the keys to his white Mercedes.

The victim complied and two offenders entered the garage and stole the vehicle.

Police tracked the stolen white car along the Metropolitan Ring Road in Thomastown.

The driver sighted police and attempted to move through the traffic to escape, but police moved in and arrested those on board.

A Doreen man, a Sugarloaf Creek woman and a Rosanna man – all aged 23 – were arrested.

A fourth man, a 25-year-old from Preston, was arrested at his home a short time later, where the Black Mercedes was located.

All four are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
