Four charged after pursuit in Sutherland

Four young persons have been charged after a police pursuit in Sydney’s south overnight, NSW Police say.

About 12.20am today, police were patrolling The Grand Parade, Sutherland, when they attempted to stop a stolen Lexus hatch.

The vehicle had been stolen from an address in Rydalmere on Monday.

The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit commenced along the Princes Highway through the suburbs of Kirrawee, Sylvania, Blakehurst, Hurstville, Penshurst, Peakhurst, Padstow Heights, Alfords Point, Menai and back to Sutherland.

After the vehicle drove into Delta Place, Sutherland – a dead end – all four male occupants were arrested.

During the pursuit the vehicle allegedly reached speeds up to 150km/h.

The males, two aged 16, one aged 17, and one aged 19, were all taken to Sutherland Police Station.

The 19-year-old man, the alleged driver, was charged with police pursuit, drive conveyance without consent of owner, drive licence suspended, exceed speed over 45km/h, and breach bail.

He has also been charged for enter vehicle without consent and dishonestly obtain property for offences allegedly committed in Revesby on Tuesday 9 May 2017.

He was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today.

One of the 16-year-olds was charged with be carried in conveyance, goods in custody (relating to credit cards found in his possession), and breach bail.

The other 16-year-old was charged with be carried in conveyance, and breach bail.

They were both refused bail to appear in a children’s court today.

The 17-year-old will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
