Four charged after Wetherill Park RES seize more than 4kg of 'Ice', NSW

Police have charged three men and a woman after seizing more than four kilograms of ‘ice’ with an estimated street value of two million dollars after several search warrants were executed Sydney’s west, NSW Police say.

Officers from Region Enforcement Squad (RES) Wetherill Park established Strike Force Algebra in December 2016 to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine by an alleged drug syndicate across north west and south west Sydney.

About 1pm yesterday, today officers from Wetherill Park RES, with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU), arrested two men, aged 23 and 24, on Weston Street, Rosehill, following a planned operation.

During a search of the two men, police allegedly located two kilograms of methylamphetamine, which was seized for forensic examination and both men were taken to Parramatta Police Station.

The 23-year-old man was charged with two counts of supply large commercial quantity of prohibited drugs supply commercial quantity, supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, five counts of indictable supply prohibited drugs.

The 24-year-old man was charged with supply large commercial quantity of prohibited drugs and knowingly participate in criminal group.

The two men were refused bail and are due to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.

Following inquiries, officers from Wetherill Park RES executed simultaneous search warrants at a property in South Wentworthville and two properties in Parramatta.

Police attended a unit on George Street, Parramatta, and following a search located more than 1.7 kilograms of methylamphetamine, more than $10,000 in cash, mobile phones and drug paraphernalia.

All items were seized and will undergo forensic examination.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station where she was charged with supply large commercial quantity of prohibited drugs and proceeds of crime.

She was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.

At a second property in River Road West, Parramatta, officers located and seized more than $7000 in cash, two capsicum sprays, an extendable baton and mobile phones.

During a search at Centenary Road, South Wentworthville, officers from Wetherill Park RES located and seized several drugs including heroin, cocaine, steroids and opium, along with more than $7000 in cash and four mobile phones.

A 29-year-old man was arrested following the search and taken to Merrylands Police Station where he was charged with two supply prohibited drug indictable quantity and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Fairfield Local Court tomorrow.

Further investigations are continuing and anyone with information about the supply or possession of prohibited drugs is urged to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers.
