Four injured after boat fire at Wagga Wagga

Four people, including two children, were injured after their boat caught fire in Lake Albert, south of Wagga Wagga today.

About 4.30pm on Wednesday (20 November 2019), officers attached to the Riverina Police District, were called to Apex Park following reports a boat had exploded and caught fire on the lake.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated an 11-year-old girl, a 40-year-old woman and a 44-year-old-man for minor burns. An eight-year-old girl was treated for more significant, second degree burns.

All four were transferred to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for treatment.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze and the lake has been closed until the boat is recovered.

The two children are believed to have been wearing life jackets.

Police have commenced investigations into the circumstances of the explosion.
