Four men in court after man critically injured at Hurstville

Four men will face court today after being charged over a fight that left a man in a critical condition in Sydney's south yesterday.

Officers from St George Police Area command have been told two groups of men were drinking at a hotel on Forest Road, Hurstville, when an argument allegedly broke out about 3.15am (Saturday 21 March 2020).

The incident escalated with two men running from the hotel then falling three metres down a grass embankment on Railway Parade.

Emergency services were called and found a 23-year-old man in the gutter with a severe head injury. He was taken to St George Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition on life support.

A 24-year-old man was found nearby suffering facial injuries and was admitted to the same hospital for treatment.

Officers established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Four men were arrested on the scene and taken to Kogarah Police Station, where they were later charged with affray.

The men were refused bail and are due to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 22 March 2020).

Investigations are continuing.
