A man will face court today after being charged by detectives investigating the murder of a man in Sydney's south west earlier this year, NSW Police say.
About 11pm on Wednesday 1 February 2017, police and emergency services attended a house on Kennedy Street, Guildford, following reports a man had been shot.
Despite the best efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man died at the scene.
He was formally identified as 37-year-old Chinese National, Qin Wu.
Detectives from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, with the assistance of Rosehill Local Area Command, established Strike Force Buttle to investigate Mr Wu’s death.
Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives, arrested and charged three men, aged 31, 35 and 45, last week. They remain before the courts.
As a result of further inquiries, a 40-year-old man was arrested at a correctional facility at Silverwater about 9.30am today.
He was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with accessory after the fact to murder, and deliver/attempt to deliver thing to an inmate without authority.
Police will allege in court the man drove members of the group to and from the home where the murder occurred.
The man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court later tomorrow.
Investigations under Strike Force Buttle are continuing.
Police are urging anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Buttle investigators to call Crime Stoppers.
