Fourth man charged over CTP Green Slip Insurance fraud, NSW

A fourth man has been charged for allegedly defrauding the Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance scheme, NSW Police say.

In August 2016, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Fraud and Cybercrime Squad established Strike Force Ravens to investigate syndicates targeting the CTP insurance scheme following recommendations of the CTP Task Force.

The CTP Task Force is a NSW Government initiative coordinated by the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA), involving representatives from various government agencies and legal, health, and insurance sectors.

Earlier this month, Strike Force Ravens detectives charged three people over alleged fraudulent CTP insurance claims totalling $280,000, relating to a crash at Hinchinbrook on 16 April 2015, and are now before the courts.

About 10.40am yesterday (Wednesday 20 June 2018), strike force detectives arrested and charged a fourth man.

Police will allege the 31-year-old man was a party to the submission of fraudulent CTP personal injury claims relating to the crash at Hinchinbrook on 16 April 2015.

He was charged with one count of conspiring to cheat and defraud and was granted conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 18 July 2018.

To date, Strike Force Ravens investigators have arrested 21 people and laid more than 160 charges in relation to a combined fraud of more than $11 million.
