Fraud Charges - Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged a 28-year-old man with multiple counts of fraud after a major investigation.

As part of a long running inquiry, the Major Fraud Squad has been investigating allegations of deceptions against the Northern Territory Government’s Indigenous Employment Provisional Sum (IEPS), Northern Territory Police say

Technology and Economic Crime Section’s Detective Sergeant Jason Blake said the Fraud Squad had been focussed on achieving results in this investigation and are pleased to have this matter before the Court.

"This has been a protracted investigation into the alleged deceptive practices to obtain funds from a government scheme aimed at building capacity with Indigenous employment," Detective Sergeant Blake said.

The Nightcliff man has been charged with 63 counts of criminal deception to the value of more than $222,000.

He has been given a notice to appear in the Darwin Local Court on Tuesday, 18 September 2018.
