Fraud offences in Pyrmont

Police have charged a man with fraud offences after seizing numerous pre-paid banking cards and more than $10,000 cash, NSW Police say.

Officers from Sydney City Local Area Command were called to a business on Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont, today following reports a man was using an ATM suspiciously.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man with the assistance of security officers just after 11am.

Police seized 30 prepaid banking cards as well as $11,060 cash during a search.

It will be alleged the man had used the cards to fraudulently withdraw funds from legitimate credit card accounts.

The man, from Northmead, was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with possess identity information to commit a serious indictable offence, knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime, and resist officer in execution of duty.

He was refused bail and will appear at Central Local Court tomorrow.

Investigations are continuing.
