Free dementia education session in Townsville and Charters Towers

Areyou worried about your memory? Do you know someone living with dementia?Dementia Australia is now holding free education sessions for North Queensland residentsaffected by dementia.

250 Australians are diagnosedwith dementia each day. With figures expected to grow to more than 1 milliondiagnosed by 2056 – it is a disease that touches many and impacts all.

In Queensland alone, there isestimated to be 80,675 people living with dementia with an estimated 689 residingin the State Electorate of Townsville.

Senior Dementia Advisor RaeHaggarty said, "The aim of Dementia Australia’s education sessions is toprovide support for Queensland residents living with dementia, as well as theirfamily, carers and friends who are also impacted.

"When someone you know orlove is diagnosed with dementia it can be a daunting and difficult time.

"Facilitated by dementiaexperts, our workshops cover effective strategies to help manage daily life andto keep healthy while also reminding people that support is available," Raesaid.

"Importantly,they are delivered in a safe, supportive and understanding environment."

Registrations are essential for the belowcourses and light refreshments will be provided. Specific location details willbe provided upon registration.
