Leeton Shire Council is conducting a free microchipping afternoon for dogs and cats at the Leeton Shire Council Pound, 10-16 Massey Avenue, Leeton, on Wednesday 17 December 2025, between 1pm and 4pm.
Council's free microchipping afternoon – one of many planned for the next year – is being held to encourage responsible pet ownership.
"If your cat or dog becomes lost, you are far more likely to be reunited if they are microchipped," said Council's Manager Planning, Building and Health, Francois Van Der Berg.
"Should your pet wander or become lost, Council, vets and animal shelters can scan your pet for a microchip and contact you via the Companion Animal Registry database. All in all, less stress for you and your furry best friend."
Dog and cat owners need to arrange an appointment time for the microchipping day and complete the relevant form/s at the Leeton Shire Council office located at 23–25 Chelmsford Place prior to 17 December 2025.
Please note all dogs need to be on a leash. No aggressive dogs will be accepted. All cats must be in a carry cage.
If you can't make this one, rest assured that future microchipping days will be arranged to accommodate people who are at work during the week.
