Bland Shire Council is encouraging residents to take advantage of its upcoming Free Tip Days as part of its efforts to reduce illegal dumping across the Shire.
Council recognises that the cost of living is putting pressure on household budgets and is providing practical ways for residents to dispose of unwanted household waste without the usual disposal fees.
Free Tip Days will be held on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, with residents and ratepayers able to dispose of one ute or trailer load of domestic waste at participating landfills.
Free Tip Day locations and times:
• West Wyalong Landfill: Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 September, 10am–3pm
• Ungarie Landfill: Sunday 13 September, 8.30am–11am
• Barmedman Landfill: Sunday 13 September, 12.30pm–3.30pm
Council is also reminding the community that illegal dumping costs everyone.
"When waste is dumped illegally, Council has to use ratepayer funds to clean it up," said Bland Shire Mayor Brian Monaghan.
"Those are funds that could otherwise be spent on roads, parks, community facilities and other services. We understand the cost of living is a challenge, which is why we want to make responsible disposal as accessible as possible."
Free Tip Days are for Bland Shire residents and ratepayers only, with domestic waste only accepted. Commercial and business waste, asbestos, tyres, hazardous waste and mattresses are not eligible and will incur standard disposal fees.
Council encourages residents to make use of the free service and help keep the Bland Shire clean and safe.
